Movie Research: Parasite

Image
-There is major mystery in this film that leads to suspense and a grey area. Several videos have also been made to explain what goes on in the movie exactly. There are also several plot twists in this film. - My favorite convention about this movie is the unknown. It leaves people in a continuous confusion. The plot twists also add to this effect, one minute someone is dead and the next they are alive. This gives the audience suspense. - What I do not like about this movie is how it ended. This movie, I believe, ended very abruptly without zero explanation. Although it led to thrill, it also left many people confused and did not have a very revealing plot.

Movie Research: Luckiest Girl Alive

Image
 - Some conventions of this movie included a traumatizing incident, victims,  and an unreliable main character. Although at the end of the movie, the character is seen to have been proven not guilty, it leads the audience on and does not share what actually happened; but instead shows flashback of bits and pieces of her memory. The victims shown were the people that were with the girl during the incident and how it effected them as well. - During this movie, I really enjoyed the unknown information or lack thereof given to us by the narrator. This is because it jumped back and forth between the incident and her in the present. Which, led to more suspense from the audience about not knowing what really happened. This convention added a sense of mystery.  - I believe that this movie was executed perfectly. It had low-light editing to give the audience a chill, it showed her PTSD clearly, it gave a good perspective, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Overall, there is nothing I would

Movie Research: The Fallout

Image
- Typical conventions that this movie included was crime, victims, and lives at stake. The crime was a school shooting that occurred in the movie and the victims were the people whom experienced it. However, the main victim the story follows is Vada. The lives at stake were the students and staff at the school, which added suspense and fear for the audience. - Personally, this movie made me feel very uncomfortable and scared, which is why it can be seen as such a great thriller film. The main convention in this movie were the victims. The raw emotion and fear in their faces made me feel like I was experiencing the same thing they were.  - Although it added to the idea of thriller, I did not enjoy the sound of the movie. Such as the high pitched noise when the gun shot went off, or the loud screams. I believe that the movie would have been better off without all of the editing to the noise.

Genre Decision

Image
At the end of the day, my partner and I decided to go with the genre of Thriller. This is because both of us have more pros than cons for this genre. We also believe that is would be more fun to execute. Meaning, we would have more creative freedom with the plot, editing and camera angles. For example, we could do a peculiar tilted angle or have gory makeup without it being second guessed.

Genre Research: Action

Image
 - Pan shots and tracking are the most used in action films. This is because it shows what the person is doing or where they are going. For example, them running away.  - Typical in these types of films, the costumes have tears do to excessive movement. Blood is also used a lot because the character typically has a lot of obstacles or stunts during the movie. - The editing for this is very fast paced and shows a lot going on at once.  - There is usually very upbeat and intense music during most scenes.  - Some examples include: Fast and Furious, The Dark Knight, and Kill Bill. - The soundtrack of most of these movies is my favorite part about action films. They typically show the main characters comeback or realization. - One thing I do not like about the genre is that it can be very predictable and has a known plot for most of them. These are usually very unrealistic as well.

Genre Research: Thriller

Image
 - Tilted angles and point of view shots are two of the most used shots in thriller. Tilted shots emphasize dramatics of the scene while point of view shows what the main character is seeing and what is causing their reactions. - Typically, in thriller movies, the characters have blood stains on their costumes or on themselves and can have tears in their clothes from previous scenes. Most of the time, the main props in these films are weapons used to scare other characters. Makeup can also be a strong component not only when it comes to blood but when it comes to fictional creatures. - The editing for thrillers is usually very fast paced, and has a dark eerie filter on it to make the audience feel uneasy.  - The sound in these films are usually only used to scare the audience. For example when something big happens, they used a loud noise to make people jump out of their seats. There is also a lot of screaming and noises added onto the film. For example, when a person is using a weapon

Genre Research: Mystery

Image
- The most common camera angles are tracking and close up. This way, the audience can see the victims reaction or action but they can not see what is causing it. Flashbacks can also be very prevalent in most mystery films to show how the killer or unknown person played out the plot and show what they did to keep their identity a secret. -  The person or thing to cause the mystery is usually dressed in black or have their face covered. They also typically wear gloves to cover their fingerprints.  - The editing in these films also are dark and gloomy, purposefully to create more suspense. - The sound in these types of films are also very dramatic. Meaning, the music can be sneaky or conniving as well as loud and sudden. - Examples include: The Glass Onion, Murder Mystery, Knives Out, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. - I enjoy that this genre allows for the audience to guess what is happening or to guess the person who did it. It allows for me to piece everything together. This genre

Our Pitch

Image
Pitch A:  Two best friends go on a killing spree of everyone who has hurt them in the past. Pitch B: A ship crashes and the people are stuck on a deserted island. Pitch  A Discussion: Two best friends who were brutally bullied and abused by everyone around them, family, friends, and teachers, decide that it is time for them to take revenge. They begin to kill anyone and everyone who has ever even looked at them dirty. But one friend, is keeping a major secret... Pitch B Discussion: Thousands of people go on a cruise ship to Mexico when all of a sudden, a huge storm hits them and seven of them wash up on a  deserted  island. They have to learn to get along and work together to survive until they are found.  Our final decision: Since it would be very tricky to represent a cruise crash and a deserted island, we decided to go with pitch A out of practicality. Although this would be an  interesting  plot for us to go with, the props and settings would not properly represent the point we w

Group Blog

For this final project, my group only consists of two people. This is because our last project, we had some struggles working together to get things done. I feel like this project is also too important and has a lot of components for me to work alone. So, I decided to work with Hayley Maier. We are both in the same AICE Media class so it will be easier to communicate during class time. Hayley and I met freshmen year but we got closer in this class this year. I believe that we will work well together. This is because we agree on most things and listen to each others opinions and ideas. Since Hayley has her drivers license, it is also easy for us to plan things and go out. When we hang out, we typically study but since this project, we have started to discuss this instead.. For example, we have been going to coffee shops after school. Yesterday, at the coffee shop, we began discussing our pitch.  When our teacher first announced this project, we both knew or had a hunch of what we wa

S pending my free time in nature is something I have come to enjoy. My happy places include the beach and the mountains, while very different from each other, these two places are where I have created my most fondest memories.  From playing mermaids in the ocean during sunset, to gathering around a fluorescent fire with friends, the outdoors is for sure the root to most of my happiness. However, with these memorable moments also comes things that I am not so appreciative of: bugs. Given that I have spent all this time outside, I have had several run-ins with natures finest, mosquitos. Even with bug spray it seems that they never are properly repelled and their constant biting results in uncontrollable itchiness, something that is no where near joyful.       Hanging out with my friends on FaceTime, at school, or during the weekends is also something that brings me immense joy. Most of my friends either go to another school or I have zero classes with them, so the weekends are when I
