Reflection

Over the course of this project, I learned and used technology in the way I have never done before. I used several editing platforms such as iMovie, Capcut, and Film Editor, for example. I also had to learn to insert images and videos into my commercial. Which took longer than expected because of how indecisive I can be. I also had to use technology to insert the videos I wanted. As well as place them at the correct time, speed, and order I wanted them to go in. Along with this, I had to figure out several complicated things. This includes how to insert music into my video. Which, through figuring this out, I learned how to insert videos over my commercial with sound through screen recording the video off of YouTube. But, unfortunately that did not make the Final Cut.
This project also taught me what the process and effort of making a commercial or film is like. Although, I did not have the stress of filming or writing a script. Instead, I learned how to condense my content and only choose specific pictures and videos to match the appropriate, happy vibe I was originally shooting for. I also learned that it is ok to go back on your planning and change it a little. For example, when it came to the pictures, I had to change them several times because the collection of them would just not sit right with me. The final thing I learned about the process of making a commercial is to keep my options open or have backups in case something goes wrong. For example, when planning, I decided to make a list of songs I might want to put in the video. This way I could put these songs to the background and see which one would match the best. I also could look at this song list if the original song was not approved or got copywriter.
Personally, I believe that this project went pretty smoothly. Minus the few bumps in the road, I really like how it came out. However, I believe that there is always room for improvement. So, next time I would like to take my time more and not finish it the day it was assigned. This way, I could gain more knowledge on the different editing platforms instead of just sticking with Instagram. Even though Instagram is a good app to make short clips on, I do not believe that it would be best for longer videos such as the upcoming music video. With this being said, The main platform I would like to learn how to use would be Capcut. This is because I feel like this app has a better reputation than iMovie and is very accessible with a variety of things you could do.
To conclude, I believe this project was the perfect way to start off my journey and progress in this class. It allowed me to learn several new things I did not know before while also being fun to make. Hopefully, I can look back on this video at the end of the year and clearly see the improvement. Until then, I have my work cut out for me and goals I would like to achieve to ensure a good film.
