The process of preparing for this project, took me longer than expected. But I had a clear vision of what I wanted and stuck to the idea. The first thing I decided on was that I wanted to make this film very upbeat and exciting because that is what my life is like outside of school. I wanted the pictures and videos to bring other people joy and share how good life can be. After this decision, I began to pick out the pictures and videos I was going to put in my film. To start this process, I put all of the photos correlated with my favorite memories into an album labeled, "Commercial". This had a total of 21 pictures, all representing the past year. Which is when I realized I have barely any photos of just myself and that most pictures included my friends or family. In order to solve this, I decided to add the few pictures I have of myself in the beginning of the commercial, making it easier to tell which one was me in the other photos. Next, I looked through my videos that I selected and had a total of five. But, when canceling them out, I had to decide which ones would be the most appropriate and fitting for what area in the commercial they were being placed in. One of my favorite videos was one of me and my best friend were on The Tower of Terror at Disney World over sSpring Break. This is because I love roller coasters and it was one of my most fondest memories of sophomore year. After scrolling through the videos I selected, I had to edit them down due to most of them being over a minute long. These edited versions were now only the most upbeat part of the video.
Another decision I had to make while planning was what kind of music I wanted to be playing in the background of this commercial. Personally, I am a fan of all genres of music and am constantly listening to songs through my headphones, so this decision was very tricky. Which is why I decided to make a list on my Notes app and ended up on seven songs that would work well with my personality and film. My top two choices on this list were Delicate by Taylor Swift and The Spins by Mac Miller, both being my most listened to artists. Finally, I came to the conclusion that I would use The Spins because compared to Delicate, it has a more positive upbeat sound to it that most people would like or know. Whereas Delicate is more for an acquired taste and would not match the videos wanted vibe. One of the problems that came up when I decided on The Spins was that it did have some curse words in it. However, I only wanted to use the ending of the song where there is no inappropriate language and is just the song fading out.
