https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vOV-XdQ45mWGBc71srS4LJ7O1SJimPkyfWewYdEcoK0/edit How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? One of the conventions that could be considered is the main male role being played by a girl. Although this is a very common thing to do in theater, it is not a very known thing in the film. This role was not originally seen to be “boundary breaking” by our group but more convenient. This is because we could not find a male actor to play this role and Natalie came dressed like that to school for spirit week. We believed that this was perfect timing for our film and thought nothing more of it. However, when looking at it now, this can be seen as something out of the ordinary. These days, this type of thing- a female playing a male role- is not seen as a huge deal. This is because society is becoming more open to these things and more accepting. Although, there will always be someone who does not see the...

Getaway Car: Music Video

Image
So happy to have done this project, it taught me so much about filming! Hope you enjoy!

Production- Beginning to Edit

Image
When I got home from a long day of filming the music video, I instantly began to edit. To start with, I removed the volume from all the videos so it was easier to hear the music over it. Then, I began to cut out all of our bloopers. This included us saying the wrong thing or doing the wrong thing. This also included trimming the parts where we personally thought the video looked off or that we could do better. After this short process, I opened up CapCut. I began to put the clips in the order of our storyboard. However, when  viewing the video as a whole, some parts seemed confusing or were hard to understand. To fix this, I began to toy around with the layout of the video. But, this still looked a little off. So, I put the clips in its original order. After thought of what to do to make the flashbacks clear, I decided to insert a transition in-between the clips. These transitions were white flashes that popped up on the screen and I be...

Production- Editing

Image
To edit this video, we decided to use CapCut. This is because it is very easy and has a lot of useful features. For example, in the areas of the film where you could not hear us or mouthed the words, we could put speech bubbles. It is also very easy to put sound over the film. As well as trim the videos if needed. Overall, we found this platform to be the best out of the rest and used it to create our video. The first issue we faced when making this videos was  matching the music to the storyline and the order the storyline should go in. When our group made the storyboard, we were certain on the order, however with closer attention to the song, we decided to mix the order up a little. Since we also filmed all of the videos on Hayley's phone, I had her airdrop all of the content to me so I can fool around with some ideas and see which one would fit our vision the most. To get the music for our video was definitely the most ...

Production- Continuing The Filming Process

Image
When filming our video, my group and I were not completely sure how we wanted to do it. This is because our storyline could be a tad confusing. For example, we had a flashback in the middle of the storyline and was unsure how we would show this. Another reason is because we have never been fully together in a group throughout this process. So before filming, we all sat down and discussed our visions. Which, helped clear up a lot of confusion. On our walk to the coffee shop where we filmed, we also discussed roles. Also, how we would like the the characters to be betrayed. In the end, we decided that I would be the director, due to my lack of acting skills. Natalie would play the male role, due to her outfit based off of spirit week. Leaving Hayley to be the main character. We also decided that since they would be playing the main roles, I  would also be playing the cop and the other woman. To play these roles but still make it seem like a diff...

Production- The Start of Filming

Image
After what felt like forever, my group and I finally got the chance to film. This process took us about three hours to do and we still have one more scene to film. To begin with, when school got out, we all walked to The Alchemist, a coffee shop near the school. To get there, we originally wanted to take an Uber. However, there were some issues and confusion. This is because the person kept getting lost and we were unaware of where to be picked up. After a while, we decided to just to walk to the coffee shop. This took about thirty minutes because the coffee shop is 1.1 miles. When we got there, we got right down to business and began to make our props. This video did not require too many props, so this process was very easy. Prior to this day, for example, I made the signs shown in the background and beginning of the video. This is because we wanted to make sure the audience knew exactly what we were doing and where we were. Thanks to the people at the...

Production- Difficulties

Image
Like said before, my group and I have had a difficult time choosing a date to film. This is because all of us are busy. For example, when one of us is in town the others are out. As well as when one of us is out, everyone is in. So, it can be said that this first step to production is giving everyone in the group a difficult time. However, despite these issues, we are still trying to find the perfect date to film. Another issue that popped up in our group is that our group member with a car and license, had her car break down a week prior to our set production day. This was an issue because the title of the song is "Getaway Car." Meaning, that we needed a car as our main prop to show the full story in the song. But, we are still trying to improvise and figure out how to fix these topics. For production, we also needed several props. These included an old time phone, handcuffs, fake money, and fake money bags. While these things were in the visio...
